Professor Joe Amoako-Tuffour is a Professor of Economics with Public Policy experience and interest in Natural Resource Economics, Monetary Economics and Public Finance. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Alberta Canada and an M.A and B.A. in Economics from Simon Fraser University, Canada. Professor Amoako-Tuffour was the Director of Research at the African Center for Economic Transformation (2015-2017).  He worked as a Tax Policy Advisor at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, a member of the Revenue Management Technical Team and Chaired the Oil and Gas Fiscal Regime and Fund Types Technical Team (2009-2011). He was also a member of a three-person External Technical Team charged by the World Bank in 2008 to review the continuing relevance and future of the Strategic Partnership with Africa (SPA). Professor Amoako-Tuffour served as a visiting Scholar (2006-2007) to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning and worked on Tax Exemptions Regime in Ghana and Taxation of the Mining Sector in Ghana. Professor Joe Amoako-Tuffour has authored and co-authored extensive publications and research articles in Economics from 1988 to date including the ‘Ghana Mineral Policy’ (2017), an invited contribution to Encyclopaedia of Mineral and Energy Policy, and ‘Ghana’s Petroleum Revenue Management Law: A Social Contract for Good Economic Governance and Possible Challenges’ (2013) among others. He is currently the Secretary/Member of the Ghana Economic Management Team.
