The Executive Secretary of PURC, Dr. Ishmael Ackah, together with some members of Management and staff of PURC on March 2, 2023, commissioned a mechanized borehole at the Methodist Senior High/Technical School in Biadan-Berekum, located in the Bono Region. The occasion was graced by the Honourable Member of Parliament, Hon. Nelson Kwaku Kyeremeh (MP, Berekum East Constituency), the Headmistress of the school, District Chief Executive and the Clergy. Present at the event from PURC were the Director, Energy Services and Performance Monitoring, Ing. Fred Oblitey; Director, Finance and Administration, Mr. Wallace Duodu; Director, Research and Corporate Affairs, Dr. Eric Obutey; Regional Manager for Bono Region, Mr. Patrick Antwi.

In his address, Dr. Ackah indicated that the 10,000-litre tank capacity was one of four mechanized boreholes, which the Commission has assisted the community with, through its pro-poor water interventions. He encouraged the students and members of the community to own the project and pay particular attention to its smooth operations for the benefit of the entire community.

On his part, the Hon. MP, Hon. Kyeremeh was full of praise for the PURC and encouraged other state actors to take a cue from activities of the Commission and extend their operations to cover the needy in society. He cautioned the community to desist from any negative behaviour that will ruin the future of the project and the benefits to be derived from it, given that water is life. He placed a request before the Commission asking for more projects in his constituency.
