PURC Grabs Two Awards

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), after a competitive selection process, was adjudged winners of the prestigious “Brand of the Year” award at the 6th Ghana Energy Awards 2022, which was held on November 25, 2022 at the La Beach Hotel in Accra. The Executive Secretary of the Commission, Dr. Ishmael Ackah also received the “Osagyefo Young Leadership Award” for his exemplary leadership at the event.

The Ghana Energy Awards, which was organized by the Energy Media Group seeks to recognize and award excellence in the energy sector by driving healthy competition and constant innovation among sector players. The award scheme, has been responsive to industry needs and has been fortunate to witness the energy sector’s growth and its resilience over the last half decade.

The event brought together key stakeholders and giants in the energy sector, the diplomatic corps and the international community.

The key note address was delivered by the special guest of honour, His Excellency the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on behalf of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo – Addo. The Vice President assured sector players of Government’s constant support and collaboration to further improve Ghana’s energy sector.

Winning the prestigious “Brand of the Year” award attests to the hard work and professionalism the Commission displayed during the year under review and is committed to more proactive years ahead. Indeed, over the year under consideration, PURC has implemented the consumer service clinics, developed a tariff reckoner app, published the bi-annual regulatory digest, introduced a regulatory brief, set up and train a media fellowship, reverse the tariff structure and published rate setting guidelines for net metering among other achievements.
